“While no map is perfect and analysis of the new boundaries continues, it appears redistricting efforts will preserve the best interests of Minnesotans while reflecting the changing demographics of our state,” said John Kline. “Regardless of your home address and what congressional district you live in, we are all conservatives who love liberty and freedom and shudder to think what could befall our nation if the current Administration gets another four years to work its will. • The new map of Minnesota’s 2nd congressional district continues to include Dakota, Scott, Goodhue, South Washington and part of Rice County.
• After 10 years, residents living in Carver, Le Sueur, and western Rice County (including Faribault) will no longer reside in the 2nd district in 2013.
• Residents living in Wabasha County and in West and South St. Paul are new to the 2nd district next year.

Wow! What a great turnout at last night’s caucuses. I was thrilled to see so many Minnesotans engaging in what truly is shaping up to be a campaign for our future and an effort to ensure a better life for our children and grandchildren.

Minnesota Republican Precinct Caucus Night: Tuesday

This Tuesday, Minnesotans have the opportunity to participate in Caucus Night – a fundamental exercise of our democratic rights and an unofficial kickoff to the 2012 campaign. You can join me on the front lines of this battle for our future. Conducting Oversight on an ‘Imperial Presidency on Steroids’

When the President announced recess appointments last month to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the National Labor Relations Board, I was outraged. The President chose to exercise an overreach of executive power by blatantly ignoring the legislative branch’s Constitutional advise-and-consent responsibilities. To conduct necessary oversight on the actions of this imperial presidency on steroids, I will lead a committee hearing next week to examine the President’s so-called recess appointments and the anti-business agenda of the NLRB. The President pledged last week in his State of the Union address to help businesses succeed, but once again his words aren’t matching this Administration’s actions.

Sunday marked the somber anniversary of the Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision.

“I was honored to join thousands of Minnesotans at the Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life rally to recognize this solemn moment in our history and reiterate our commitment to protecting the unborn,” Kline said. “In Washington, I am proud to champion legislation and initiatives to make respect for life the law of the land.”

Two critical bills have already been approved by the House and are now awaiting consideration by our Senate counterparts:

• The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act would establish a government-wide statutory prohibition on abortion funding; and
• The Protect Life Act would prohibit insurers from selling health plans that cover abortion to anyone receiving federal funds.

In the 39 years since the devastating decision of the U.S. Supreme Court to permit the destruction of life, stalwart defenders of the unborn have been hard at work. And while the ultimate prize of banning abortion once and for all remains elusive, progress is being made.

“Thanks to the support and hard work of men and women like you here in Minnesota – and across the nation – leaders from the state house to the U.S. House of Representatives continue to be elected,” Kline told Minnesotans Sunday. “And these Representatives are working hard to advance policies that protect those who cannot protect themselves.”
